Well, with both the the younger Patti Families having their own blog, I felt it was high time that the "Elders" got into the blogging thing. So...here goes.
DISCLAIMER: When it comes to technology, everyone knows I am a mental midget, so be patient as I wade through the hoopla that it internet technology.
Our biggest news for the time being is Kim ("Mom". "Ma", "Grandma", "Nama" and others...) finally had her left knee scoped due to a tear in the Medial Meniscus. This has caused considerable pain over the past few months. She is relatively pain-free (Thank you, Vicodin) and recuperating in her recliner.
Her job is getting tougher and tougher, basically doing the job that was done by 2 people a year ago. The economy continues to give the company she works for a great deal of lost sleep, but they come to work everyday, thinking of today as the day it will turn around. I see it as taking a lot of her free time away and I worry how long she can continue at this pace.
My job, on the other hand, is going great! As you know (it was the worst-kept secret in the state), I accepted a position with Mason County Fire District #5 (a.k.a. Central Mason Fire/EMS) as Assistant Chief/Fire Marshal in July. Basically, I am working as the Fire Marshal for the City of Shelton, and building a fire inspection program for the entire fire district. I am working 12-14 hour days, but it is more a labor of love than anything. I am excited to see what the next day brings. Coming from my former employment where I had a staff of 10-15, being a Fire Prevention Bureau of 1 is a bit different! Lots of learning going on, but it is a great place to be.
We see our boys and their families often, and love to watch the Grandkids as they learn and experience different things. Taylor, who is going to be 13 in December, is both academically and athletically gifted. Pulling straight "A's in school and being on the Varsity Volleyball team has had her pretty busy so far this year. She is a beautiful young lady who is going to be heart-breaker.
Norah is in Kindergarten this year and is doing very well, after a particularly trying first couple of weeks in school. She is a social and loving little girl who makes friends easily. She is absolutely fearless and the apple of her Mommy and Daddy's eye. She was a cheerleader this year, and we got to see her in action at the North Mason Stadium this fall. What a gorgeous little girl.
Kayla is also in Kindergarten. You will NOT find a more loving child anywhere. Always happy to see her grandparents and has a huge smile for us! Kayla is an OUTSTANDING reader and can read just about anything put in front of her. She has a "taste for fashion", in that she marches to her own beat and will someday probably be a fashion designer and everyone will pay thousands to wear a "Kayla Original".
Kellen is the only boy out of the group and is 4 years old. He loves fire engines and anything to do with them, and is our Laid Back child. As long as he has several costume changes so he can become any "Super Hero"
that he has his mind set on, he is truly good to go. Papa has dreams of them riding off to Sturgis one day on motorcycles to "drink root beer, see the hot chicks and get tattoos on his biker muscle that says, 'Love you, Mom'. "
So...we will see how this blogging thing works out. Time will tell if it works to keep up with communications. Have a GREAT Thanksgiving, in the meantime!
